Great staff and great Doctor. I'm 3 days after surgery and I made the correct choice by selecting Dr Whitten.

I had Lasik done yesterday and my only regret is not having it done sooner! I have been wearing glasses since the 3rd grade and literally was blind as a bat without my glasses. Everyone was wonderful throughout the entire procedure. It literally took more time to get to the office then the entire procedure took. It never hurt and Dr. Whitten talked me through the whole procedure. I had my post op this morning and the whole way there I kept reading everything in sight, it was like i was wearing my contacts but I wasn't. I highly recommend Dr. Whitten and his team!!

I cannot say enough good things about this practice. I have been 20/400 for most of my life (aka practically blind). I have wanted to get Lasik for years. It wasn't until my eye dr (Dr. Tira at Grove ave eye center which is also excellent) recommended this place because the price was right, that i finally decided to bite the bullet and get it done. At both of my preop appointments i encountered professional and courteous employees- Dr Whitten was to the point and very professional. On the day of my surgery they tell you to expect to be there for about an hour. Upon arrival, I was quite nervous but they offered me a valium right off the bat. They then bring you back and Dr. Whitten comes in the exam room and asks you if I had any questions. I then proceed to go into a small waiting area where i can see the previous patients surgery being performed on a tv screen. This is where my nervousness went away. It literally took 4 minutes TOPS per eye. It's then my turn. You lay down on a table in the dark room with the laser over your head, the tech gives you numbing drops and Dr. Whitten gets to work. He talks you through each step so you are focusing on what he is saying rather than what he is doing. I felt like i was in there for 5 minutes. NO PAIN only slight pressure but totally tolerable. When i sat up I COULD SEE. It was kind of cloudy but i did exclaim "i can see!" and hugged Dr. Whitten. I was brought into a dark room where the discharge instructions were given as well as tylenol PM. They tell you to go home and sleep for 4 hrs wearing clear plastic covers at night (for a week) and start drop regiment. I was lucky to have a 4pm appt because on the way home the numbing drops wear off. This is where the burn sets in (so does the tylenol). By the time i get home, my eyes are tearing and burning but they give you more numbing drops to get you to sleep. My husband had to put the drops in because i couldnt even open my eyes. I woke at 11 and my eyes felt dry and slight burning but after putting in drops, i slept until 6:30 am. The next morning my eyes felt like i had a few crumbs like old contacts but i could see PERFECTLY. At my post op appt at 8:30 am, i was seeing 20/15. Now, its about 44 hours later and my eyes feel and look completely normal. No redness, no stinging, no cloudiness. It's nuts to be able to see so clearly and feel no pain after getting a procedure like that. I'm telling you, if you are on the fence about getting it done, DO IT!! It's the best money I've ever spent.
