New Point Comfort Natural Area Preserve

New Point comfort Natural reserve is a splendid example of how calm and peaceful Mathew’s County is. You can jog or bike your way if you are renting a house around this area. Don’t forget to stop by before sunset, I assure you, You haven’t seen anything like it before. Bring your kayak and friends. Have an entire day out in the bay, this is living the dream.

Could easily give less than five stars because as other reviewers note- this is a good jumping-off point, not to spend hours. I fished here for a while, but eventually left because nothing was biting and there was nothing left for me to do. I though the views of the area were great, but far from the lighthouse, yes. If you’re kayaking, launch here, and there’s a little pier with benches and historical placards if you’re not. Worth a visit if in the area for sure, even better if you have a boat or kayak. Blue crabs are abundant here! Cheers.

Stunningly beautiful views. History buffs...there is an informational plaque that tells the history of the lighthouse. You can't get to the lighthouse but the pier offers great fishing as well as fantastic scenery. Definitely worth a visit.

It's beautiful out here! I wish they had put the observation deck somewhere closer, the lighthouse is soooo far away...the zoom on my DSLR camera came in handy, cell phone wouldn't get a good enough shot. I like the information signs on the deck. Keep an eye out for osprey & bald eagles. There is a huge nest in a dead tree at about 9 o'clock when you're looking at the lighthouse. Very peaceful here!
