Integrity, civility, knowledge, and experience. These words are what describe Mary Commander and her legal team.
Hands down, Mary Commander knows the Virginia family law, and practices civility and integrity from start to finish. Mary is tougher than nails and handles any high-conflict and nasty opposing counsel with ease. Mary is reasonable and the entire legal team will have you and your children’s best interest as a priority. Regardless, if you have mediation or need to go to court or trial, Mary is a strong litigator and will have your back.
From the beginning, Emily (Mary’s receptionist) was prompt, patient with my numerous emails, and very responsive. Most of all, when things seemed bleak and overwhelming, Emily was considerate, patient, and kind with every one of my visits to their office.
My first visit with Mary was a preemptive and strategic move as my ex had not filed a motion with the local court yet. Mary did not want to take a retainer fee unless needed. This was different than the 7 other attorneys I’d met with in the local area. Mary is 100% the epitome of integrity and is up front with you about your case and will NEVER charge you unnecessarily. For any other reviews that dislike what Mary might say, it is only because she will be honest and never sugarcoat any situation. This is what you need in an attorney and a legal team. Good or bad, you need an attorney and team that won’t run up the bill or be fake with you.
A little bit after I met with Mary, the ex eventually filed numerous motions. I had approximately 60+ pages worth of discovery and questions to respond to. As chaotic as it might seem, Abby(Mary’s paralegal) made sure the process was seamless. Abby’s prompt communication and “hand-holding” made the prep for the court hearing much easier. In fact, Abby had even more experience and knowledge than my ex’s own attorney! The entire team kept me in the loop and made sure all my questions and concerns were promptly addressed even with Mary’s schedule.
Mary is the attorney you need. Granted you never know what a judge might say or decide, but the team at Commander Law will do everything they can to ensure your things go in your favor. There is nothing more reassuring and uplifting than seeing Mary in action in a courtroom. It‘s a great feeling when Mary and her team are fully prepared and state your case eloquently while opposing counsel continue to stumble in their responses to the points Mary brings up. In any case, if you need to go to court/trial, Mary is an incredible pitbull of a litigator!
I know that my ex will continue ongoing/future frivolous litigation, but as long as I have Mary on my side, I know it will be okay!
Mary and her amazing staff made a difficult divorce as easy as possible for my mother, who wasn't sure where to even start! It was such a relief knowing that Mary was fighting for her; her professionalism, compassion, and experience are unmatched. Communication was swift and efficient, and she made sure my mother received everything she was entitled to. I can't thank her and her staff enough!
Mary Commander and her team worked diligently on my case until I was satisfied with the outcome. I met Ms. Commander at the start of my separation from my ex husband of 15 years. I wanted to have someone represent me who was excellent in their field, had a great reputation in the community, and was familiar with military law. I was very aware that my case would take awhile due to many military deployments and our children involved. The team was in frequent contact with me and kept me abreast on the next steps throughout my case whether it was over emails, text messages, or conference calls. They provided me with realistic possible outcomes during mediation so I could avoid a trial. Unfortunately, my ex husband did not want to negotiate and a trial date was set. Ms Commander and her team continued to negotiate my terms on my behalf up to the moment before I had to stand before the Judge on the day of my trial. Throughout this entire process, I felt as if I were a part of the team's 'family' and I was always warmly greeted. I couldn't be more pleased with the outcomes on my cases regarding my divorce, child custody and child support with Ms. Commander.
I have experience with Mary through the legal profession in the court system, and I have know of her and known her for nearly two years. And although I have always held her in high regard, my opinions about her skyrocketed when I had occasion to engage her as counsel for my own legal matter. I cannot say enough about her responsiveness, her sensitivity, her attention to detail, her incisiveness, her preparedness and her legal acumen. But even beyond these essential qualities, there is such a wonderful sense of goodness about Mary. She is generous with her time, she is generous with her energy and her effort. She is KIND. She has a wonderful heart (AND a terrific sense of humor!) She and all her staff reflect all of these things as well. If I were an attorney, I would model my practice upon what Mary and her group represent. Wonderful, wonderful. So thankful!
Attorney Commander and her entire staff were outstanding. I went 10 years without any cooperation from my ex-spouse regarding her divorce decree responsibilities. Attorney Commander resolved my issue in less than 2 months. She and her legal staff are responsive and on point... As a retired military officer, it was very important to me to have someone represent my interests who understands my perspective and pays attention to detail. Attorney Commander is not only a superior advocate, she and her staff provided me with top advice when decisions had to be made... Finally, I would like to add that I live in another part of the U.S., but needed local representation in the Tidewater area. Attorney Commander and her staff were always accessible and responsive to my questions throughout the entire process, even though I literally live in another time zone. Five Stars are not enough to express the work they did for me. These folks are top-notch. As a military man, I would never go into a battle without the best. If you have to go into a legal fight, you have the best with Commander Law - period.
