I'm actually a wedding photographer (and didn't stay here myself although I did spend the whole day) but I'm reviewing because people need to know how amazing of a venue this is for small weddings/elopements! My couple decided to elope in Norfolk's Freemason District at the Inn because they loved how cute the cobblestone-street neighborhood is and because of how charming the Inn is itself. They booked the whole Inn for their family and wedding party to stay for the days surrounding their celebration.
As a photographer, I loved how much thought was put into the design of the rooms. The bride got ready in the room on the top floor and it made my job easy- Large windows and a skylight in the stairwell to let in plenty of light, neutral colored yet fun pattered walls, beautiful furnishings that made for great backgrounds when capturing their details, and a bright clean room off to the side for the bride to slip into her dress without the bridesmaids seeing- it all made for great pictures and a laid-back fun getting ready experience.
All day the staff was so helpful and friendly! And not just to the bride and groom, but to their family, and myself and the other vendors as well. They went out of their way to make sure that I had ordered something to eat and had a place to sit as well (which is less common than you might think + the food was delicious). When the wedding timeline needed to be adjusted on the fly, the Inn's event staff was easy to communicate and collaborate with so everyone was on the same page and things kept flowing smoothly.
The couple had their ceremony and dinner/reception in the backyard patio area and it was seriously so perfect for their small guest list. The staff was quick to transition the versatile space from ceremony to dinner during a short cocktail hour and the table setup turned out stunning! And the patio's bulb lights were bright enough to light photos and keep the magical ambiance of dining and dancing under the stars.
I'll definitely be recommending this venue to any couples wanting a small wedding in the area!
We chose the Inn at 411 York as our Anniversary destination and it was certainly the highlight of our year. The accommodations were outstanding, extremely well thought out with no detail overlooked from the fully stocked snack cart, to high end plumbing from Water Works, to beautifully patterned marble floors which were delightfully heated, to a heavenly comfortable bed - and these were just a few of the many high end features. The Inn was converted from a turn of the century residence and the owners thoughtfully retained the original character of the home with its beautiful wood flooring and stair railings, 8' mahogany doors, transoms above the doors, and lovely tiled fireplaces. The staff were as outstanding as the accommodations and we had a delightful visit from the owner during our dinner at the delightful restaurant on the premises. The breakfast delivered to our room the following morning was quite memorable as well. I would highly recommend a visit to this most charming bed and breakfast.
Spent two nights at 411. Beautiful and delightfully friendly. Located on the Tide light rail, makes everything easily accessible. Great breakfast courtesy of hostess Melia. Brand New bathroom with heated floor and rainfall shower.
Easy check-in process. Room was clean, comfortable, and luxurious. Loved all the complimentary options. Staff was nice and accommodating. The view was beautiful. 100% recommend. I’ll be back.
Incredible amenities in the room. Restaurant next door had incredible food, would 100% recommend and return. Breakfast in bed was delicious, ate every last bite. Enjoyed by soaking tub and rain shower, heated floors, and the coziest bathrobes included for during our stay.
