The Shanty

This restaurant already has tons of quality reviews, but I had to contribute because I liked this place so much that I ate here three times in one week.
Every single menu item we ordered was delicious. Everything.
-The crab dip and soft, toasted pita
-The clam fritters with old bay aioli
-The wedge salad with blue cheese dressing and balsamic reduction
-The fish & chips (the most perfect, tender cod I’ve ever had)
-The bang bang shrimp bowl (amazing flavor, rice cooked perfectly)
-The sesame seared tuna (cooked rare) changed my life, comes with local, seasonal veggies
-The scallops were soft, tender, buttery heaven
-Amazing sides: basil mash and paprika fried Brussels

The waiters who served us were friendly, attentive, and well-informed (Chris and Alex were great). The owner, a nice guy and a hard worker, also said hello and asked if we needed anything.

I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone visiting the area. It was my favorite restaurant in Cape Charles, and I tried at least six restaurants while I was there. (It’s better and cheaper than The Oyster Farm.)

I have been going to Cape Charles with my family every summer for 4 years now, and this was our first time here. Good food, great service. Particularly enjoyed the clam chowder most! Picked the outdoor dining area and it was a great view. Will definitely be part of the Cape Charles getaway tradition from now on!

Great atmosphere near the water! We had a big party & wait staff was very accommodating. OMG burger was good. Awesome pork belly. Crab dip, fish and chips, clam chowder excellent!

We decided to stop here on our way home from Maryland. The clam chowder was delicious! I had the flounder which was the special for the day. Really delicious food, drinks and the view is simply amazing!

Note: In this short staffed world we are living, it’s understandable that we are facing delays when going to restaurants but the service here was fantastic, even if slightly delayed. I recommend and will definitely be returning.
