Great little Museum as you're entering town. Very knowledgeable staff and definitely a place you need to stop if it's your first time in Cape Charles to learn a little bit about the town so you understand it. This place is like no other but unless you know the back story you won't appreciate it.
I was happy to be able to make it there because TD Jefferson was actually my great-great-great-grandfather.....this is part of my family tree😍🙌🏾
We visited on a Sunday and almost didn’t stay because the person opening the museum arrive almost 15 minutes late. The museum is a gem. It is small but includes a lot about the history of Cape Charles.
There were displays of artifacts and books that had lots of pictures and information. There was also a fairly long video about the building of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. They also have a display modeling the bridge and tunnel system.
It was small but well worth the visit. They also have a few cases of items/books for sale. They only take cash!
I love these little museums, and really appreciate the volunteers who run them. This is a must if you are interested in the bay bridge tunnel, into railroads, or just want to kill some time before stopping at the many restaurants nearby. The big Diesel engine was cool.
Nicely presented free, small museum on the way into town offering great content. Worth a short visit.
The museum volunteers are most helpful with suggestions for visiting Cape Charles and surrounds.
