“Our son went to Grymes from K – 8 and it was the perfect school for him. The school transformed him from a shy and timid child to a confident teenager who has a love of learning. How did they do it? I think it’s a combination of good programs, teachers that care and are given the authority to do the right things, and administrators that support the students and teachers. It is programs like public speaking, annual plays, and annual music performances that helped my son develop the confidence so he could speak engagingly to a large audience at graduation. It’s the support of a good coach and teammates that gave him the confidence to learn a new sport. It’s a loving teacher that lifted him up when math was difficult for him. It was an engaging history teacher that made a subject fun even though it wasn’t one he gravitated to naturally. It’s not that the school is perfect. It definitely has its strengths and weaknesses. But it’s the spirit and culture of the school that makes it special. Now our son is at a large college preparatory high school in Washington DC. He confidently entered a school where he didn’t know anyone and feels fully prepared to take honors classes. We couldn’t have asked for anything more.”

Don't let your history, my history, our history fade into some artificial narrative of the future. The past is part of our heritage and our culture-good, bad and ugly, but it's ours and it's what binds us together.”

“My review isnt just going to be about the items in the shop. Yes you can find good items with great prices but like any thrift store you must look for them. The MAIN reason for my 5 star review is for the owner. As other reviews have stated she is sweet and very nice. She doesnt get offended when the kids want to play with toys or are being a little loud. Lets face it. As much as we tell them not to touch or be quiet...it doesnt always work. As a parent, i think we have all had experiences and have been to other stores that arent kid friendly and/or understanding. I've never experienced that here. A great business isnt always about the prices its about the people who run them!”
