This is American History, This is our Black American Experience. Mr Stewart is very Knowledgeable. If you’re into your Genealogy & Family History this place is very important especially if your people have ties to Virginia
An important collection. The museum owner, Richard, greeted us on the front porch and told us stories about the history of the area (and of his own family). A house full of documents and artifacts from many periods of American history. Warm, friendly, wonderfully informative.
I had the distinct pleasure to visit the museum on 5/31/21. I was blown away by the engaging conversation with Mr. Richard Stewart, the owner. He is an endless resource of Black history and a direct descendent of the early settlers in the area. If you have the opportunity please go and visit. It is well worth the time and I assure you you'll come away with more knowledge than you could have ever thought possible to gain from one visit.
Mr. Stewart has an absolutely wonderful museum that gives the history of Pocahontas Island and all the people who have intersected there. He is warm and no matter how much you think you know, you will leave with a ton more knowledge. Definately worth the trip.
Awesome, must visit with you kids so they get an understanding of history so they can see the struggle our ancestors went through.
