Mike and his crew came to our home around 7:30 am and began covering the perimeter of the house to dispose of any debris. Within minutes, they were on the roof removing shingles and replacing some rotten wood. I left for work and by the time I came home at 5:00, there was no sign anybody was even there just a BEAUTIFUL new roof! They were quick, professional, and cleaned up everything as they went along! I would highly recommend Jayhawk Exteriors for any of your roofing needs!

Just had our house in York County re-sided with Certainteed Siding by Jayhawk Exteriors, Peninsula. Mike Griffiths and his crew were an absolute pleasure to work with. The initial contact was prompt and professional. The estimate took some time, but that's because it was done in a complete and thorough fashion. Be wary of estimators from other companies that do a quick walk around and throw you a number on the spot. Had one do that, and it was ridiculous. Plus that attitude just didn't inspire confidence. The Jayhawk quote though was very thorough and reasonable. Mike made sure I understood all the steps and costs up front. When the job started, the progress was amazing. The crew took our 30 year old cedar siding off and installed new vinyl siding. They were professional at every step along the way. They were careful to get everything buttoned up before finishing a section for the day. Total time for an excellent job all around - 7 days. Really appreciated the prompt communication throughout the process too. Our 30 year old house looks like new again!

So pleased with the work done on my home. Extensive trim, to include gables n chimney top. Also my porch soffit was completely done with vinyl. The installers were obviously very skilled and maintained the decorative elements of the wood below the trim. Always arrived on time, worked hard and finished the job quickly. They left my property clean and my house looking new.
The biggest benefit for us is no more painting wood trim! As far as the quote, price was fair and we highly recommend them to friends and neighbors !

Had four estimates from well regarded/highly rated (all Master rated contractors per manufacturers) roofing companies in the area. I will note Jayhawk in particular came highly recommended by a home inspector who’s “been on a lot of roofs” and I asked for an objective opinion, regardless of price, and he felt they were the best and very consistent in terms of quality workmanship. Out of the four estimates I received I’ll note two, Jayhawk and Jim Hicks Home Improvement, did the best job of educating me on my options and most importantly were “honest” in their assessment of my needs. When I say honest, let’s just say other contractors tried to convince me I needed a “complete roofing system” that included closing off my gables, adding ridge vents, new sheathing, etc. Jayhawk (and Jim Hicks) explained to me all of that was unnecessary — my current ventilation with the gables has been working properly on my house since 1957, they both asked “why do you need to add ridge vents/soffits to fix something that isn’t broken?”... “why replace the original sturdy 1x’s in great condition with new thinner plywood sheathing?”. You get the idea. They weren’t trying to nickel and dime me; they were trying to put the best roof on my house. Needless to say Jayhawk came in at a much more reasonable price than the other guys. They gave me a detailed estimate, included different options for shingle types, and even the cost for potential incidental charges like if they found a bad sheathing board that needed replacing (which they did and consequently gave me a discount on) - no surprise charges! I received my estimate from Jayhawk on 11/2... chose them on 11/8... they had me scheduled for 11/10. The crew arrived early at 6:15am, set up, covered up my bushes, brought a trash trailer up the driveway and were hard at it before the sun was up. I did some running around in the morning and got to see the progress throughout as I came and went, I’ll just say their crew was extremely efficient! I ended up leaving for the day around 11:30am and they pretty much had the new roof on by then. They did a complete tear off of old roof > replaced broken boards > applied Diamond Deck underlayment > weather protection in necessary areas > drip edging > new Certainteed Landmark Pro shingles > cleaned up everything as if they were never even there and left an extra “just in case” bundle of shingles. Done in one day. I’m extremely happy with the how my roof looks and how I expect it will hold up over the years.
