Very clean and nice

Just wanted to sing the praises of our pediatrician at John Muir Medical Center on Owens Drive in Pleasanton! We love Dr. Lauren Nelson, whom we’ve been seeing for the past 2 years. I initially chose her based on her education (Harvard Medical School and residency at UCSF, c’mon!), but she is not only super competent as a doctor but also super sweet and helpful as a person!

She never rushes us, whenever I’ve had concerns about my kids, she takes the time to explain in details what she would be looking for or be concerned about, and even shows me images online to show me examples of what to look for, prints out detailed sheets of info for me, etc. She is super thorough and plays it safe when it comes to any possible concerns, but isn’t alarmist and doesn’t prescribe unnecessary treatments. When my 2 year old had serious trauma to his soft palate (a fall with a toy in the mouth, I know :P), she not only gave me her professional opinion about care/treatment, she also took the time to share photos with an ENT specialist to confirm her assessment. She is super responsive via their email system, and I can ask her any questions 24/7.

And best of all, since the clinic is relatively new, her schedule is SUPER wide open, with tons of same-day appointments for any last minute needs (so no need to go to urgent care for a doctor you don’t know). Just wanted to share to benefit others and also to increase he possibility of her staying at this location! ;)

P.S. We also love their pediatric nurse, Sharma, who is so sweet and gives the best shots—one time my daughter didn’t even wince, saying it didn’t hurt at all!
