Absolutely my fav park! I love this park. I have been watching a family of 5 bald eagles… mom, dad, adult baby, adolescent baby and newer baby. Have been able to get some good pictures here and have seen a number of great natural sights including a juvenile eagle snatch a rabbit from a red tailed hawk… a blue crayfish… it’s quite with good but relatively short trails. There is a good raised dock for fishing or just sitting on the benches in the sun. There’s a floating dock which just added some rentable kayaks with a QR code. The floating dock has a very easy kayak and canoe entry. Usually when I go I run into very few people, which I so appreciate and allows me to sit listening to the nature.
I have heard some concerns about poison ivy, so I did post a photo of what poison ivy looks like. There is definitely poison ivy. It is a forest with dense undergrowth, although the paths are clear.
Lots of walking trails , sitting piers , three siting pavilions with grills , the kayak launch can be akward maneuvering a kayak because of the design of the kayak launch being a L shaped and also low tide the kayak launch is very shallow.
Pleasant trail, albeit a little weird next to a bunch of prisons. We went midday on a Saturday and there was nobody there when we arrived. When we left, there was still plenty of parking. In this way, it's a nice park if you want some peace and isolation. Easy, short hike around the red trail and loop. We did it a couple times since it was so short. Would be a nice place to sit and meditate in the peace and quiet.
Absolutely beautiful trails, very informative signs about the plant & tree life. Also really cool exercise spots/fitness guides. Best kept secret around!
