Dr. Scott Nilsson is hands down one of the best Optometrist and Sclera Lens Specialist I have ever worked with!!

Here’s my back story. I was diagnosed with Keratoconus over 8 years ago in my left eye and my only options were hard contacts (which wouldn’t work with the trade field I was in - automotive, welding, chemicals, fluids, and debri) or a Cornia Transplant. I opted for neither and lived with it. As the years went by it continued to get worse to where I couldn’t see anything from the left eye. Then a month ago I noticed I was loosing vision in my right eye, yep you guessed it, Keratoconus. Back to my options, or so I thought. I got referred to Specifically Dr. Scott at Coastal Vision.

From day 1 he made me feel comfortable, at ease, and educated me while I got fitted for these Sclera Lens. I am telling you this guy is Phenomenal!! Super chill, down to earth, personable, respectful, comical, and professional.

Well today I got my Sclera Lens and I’m telling you that this is going to CHANGE MY LIFE!! Now, we got some fine tuning with the prescription and my astigmatism but WOW, what a world of difference to be able to see clearly again. I’m a 32 year old male adult, it was so emotional to be able to see again, that I cried. No shame about it at all.

In all seriousness give this guy a call. The Red Mill location is beautiful and the staff are all super friendly and helpful. They’ve got 4 locations. 2 in Va Beach, 1 in Chesapeake and 1 in Suffolk.

Dr. T is amazing! Both my daughters see her. We have had much more interaction with her once my oldest daughter started vision therapy. We initially went in because she was having trouble reading small print. Dr. T discovered that she was having tracking issues and her eye muscles were not working as well as they could. We signed up for vision therapy, even though my husband was very reluctant at first. Within a couple sessions he was completely on board and could clearly see her reading improving. After 12 weeks we graduated and she has improved so much from the very beginning. She just started 4th grade and I'm feeling relief this year, knowing reading will not be as much of a problem as it was in 3rd grade.
