Very cool experience for a history and nature lover and that’s just inside the Centre!
The staff is always friendly, helpful and the place is very clean. Love camping with them, the bath houses are easy to access, staff will take care of any problems you have or anything that needs to be tended to or fixed. The camp has a quiet hour after 10 so everyone can rest an the access to the beach is wonderful. The beach itself has a lot to offer for younger childern or people who like myself can not swim or are just learning to swim. The tide stays low enough that everyone can enjoy time together an if you want deeper spots just walk out into the water. The beach is beautiful at sunset and clean. I love coming here an will continue to for years to come :) they do cost $7 at the door for a parking pass during the week or $10 on the weekends but I think it’s well worth it since the main tourist strip charges much more $10-40 for parking an this beach isn’t as crowded as the main.
Camping with them has been fun, the spots are well sized an some even have hookups for electric an water if your in a RV, they also have cabins that are wonderful as well. What can I say I love this place
Good view of the Chesapeake bay bridge and surrounding area. Lots of parking spaces but they do charge you for visiting here. Less crowds and beach is well maintained. They have lots of camping sites for overnight stay.
Great starting place for a visit to the Park or surrounding area. Buy parking pass, checkin for camping or cabin stay, asks questions about places to eat or camping alternatives. This building has WiFi access, displays on the first Landing of English settlers, lost and found, knowledgeable Contact Rangers, Virginia Beach Guides, and connecting offices include Park management and camp store.
For history buffs, seek out the nearby Virginia historical markers regarding the Black CCC unit that built the Parkas as well as a Captain John Smith plaque identifying the Park as a point of interest on the Capt. John Smith trail.
There is a parking fee and a dog-friendly 1.5 mike day use beach, campground and outside shower. Nearby is the start of the very short live oak trail that crosses nearby Shore Drive leading to the 20 Miles of park trails.
