Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center

Very tranquil and beautiful scenery. Nice bike paths, access to the beach and sound. Was an awesome experience.

We stayed in Sandbrige for a week on vacation. I biked the trails in Back Bay and the areas south to the North Carolina state line. It's really beautiful. The trails are well marked and there are many points of interest. There were a few areas I had to push my bike because the sand was too deep to ride. And don't forget your bug spray! But it was all worth it. I loved it.

The contact station has exhibits, water, bathrooms and information. It’s been closed for a few years and it’s good to see it open again. There is a big parking lot next to trails and water access for kayaking. There are beach and bay trails with informative signs. Fishing areas. Bike and hiking trails. Handicap accessible. There are plenty of flora and fauna if you know where to look. We like to bike in and explore all the way to False Cape.

Access is now free if you bike or hike in. There is no swimming or fishing allowed on the beach.

Love this refuge! Went for a bike ride and walked through the dunes and on the beach! Also love the fishing pier!

It was an experience I will never forget I'm sure I will visit there again soon loved it
