A small episcopal church. Handicap accessible. Parish hall handicap accessible too. Restrooms in the church and parish hall. Small congregation, very friendly.
The little church that could.
Heavily involved in local outreach missions w/ an engaged, caring congregation.
It isn’t possible for me to share all of the incredible
experiences my family and I have had at this simple small yet energetic church. The people are committed to fulfilling Christ’s work as described in Scripture.
My family and I have been members of Christ the King Episcopal Church since 1995. My wife and I have contributed our time and money to many worthy programs at CTK. They do good things for the local community as well as contribute to disaster relief in other parts of the country and the world.
The church regularly supports the York County food closet and the Peninsula Rescue Mission as well as other outreach programs. CTK started and helps support a mission church in Viet Nam.
Our two children grew up in the church. Christ the King afforded them the opportunity to grow up in a safe and vibrant Christian community. The number of children in the church varies year by year, but the congregation has always supported a religious education program no matter the number.
The congregation is small and has a dedicated core. We have a good number of military families who phase in and transition out. That means there is always something for people to do.
We have two liturgically based worship services on Sunday mornings: 8 am and 10:30 am. Between the services is an Adult Bible Study program. There is also a healing service on Wednesday evenings at 7 pm.
The people of Christ the King recently hired a new full time priest, Rev. Tom Haynes, early in 2020. Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic has prevented him from holding regular services. In lieu of a communion service, Father Haynes is conducting Morning Prayer services by Zoom.
All baptized Christians are welcome to receive communion.
