“This is not the fault of the Hampton PD but today’s backup (13 Jun 2022) through the entire downtown of Hampton due to an afternoon crash in the tunnel (and follow on crash in Norfolk) was the worst I have ever seen. The police could help by strict enforcement of not blocking intersections, not running red lights, and not cutting around the barrier in which people who follow the law line up to enter I-64 East. There are several places people jump the line for I-64 and, at this point, about 25% of the people entering 64 jump the line. The most obvious place is cutting across to the on ramp from the left lane on Settler’s Landing Road (beyond the barrier). Today I sat about 20 cars back and watched as our lane did not move through five light cycles as a timid driver in a white car let people to the left speed in front of him every time the light turned green. He may have been disabled, but God bless him, he let five cycles go by before he moved across from the front of the line. Granted, every time the light turned green, at least one car ran the red light from the other direction, too. It was like we were *never going to move ahead! Then, even when we entered the on-ramp, people came to the alternate entry (for those coming up Settler’s Landing the other way) and blocked it by turning *right into it because they missed the on-ramp by being in the left lane, beyond the barrier. I know the city is considering shutting down that on-ramp to local traffic but I believe you should first try enforcing the law as it is. Today, the intersection at the on-ramp was full of red light runners and people blocking the intersection for more than one light cycle. A few tickets should get the word out that we need to actually use the barrier lane the way it was intended and obey all the other traffic laws, too.”

“To the speeder who wrote the review with one star, the officer you are complaining about doesn't work for the Sheriff's Department which is who you are reviewing. The officer in question works for Eastville PD which is separate from the sheriff's office. Also, I've found that the police here are very respectful and if you don't want a ticket, don't speed.”

“I'd like to thank 1st Lieutenant Regan Miller for his swift and courteous assistance today. I had a scare this afternoon which was probably a bad way to end my Memorial Weekend. I had a rental car and I was pumping fuel and left the key fob inside the vehicle along with my purse, my cell phone and unfortunately my dog!!! I called Manassas Park Police and they responded quickly and got my baby out of the hot car!! Thank you thank you thank you Officer Miller!! You were very understanding and sympathetic.”

“I have a property in EastEnd that I monitor remotely. This morning a observed a NN Police pickup truck pull directly in front of my property. So i calked the East End precinct to ask was there an issue there. The gentleman kindly informed me there was no issue and it was probably him there checking on a possible abandoned pvehicle. He said he would probably go by my property to check to make sure everything was ok. Kudos to communitu policing. I was pleased and impressed as I was not sure what respons I would get calling about my concern.”

“Can't speak for those reviews about discourteous patrolmen/traffic control, but I called to ask about getting ink fingerprinted and can say the staffing was great and patient. The lady that answered was nice and thorough with the hours (operation hours and ink/digital vary by Areas so make sure you call ahead).”

“Thank you to the SPD for caring about the “little” things. Locking your keys in a car may seems like a small problem - but when you have your dog locked inside the car - it becomes a big problem. The Police Department and the Fire Department showed up within 5 minutes. Love living in a small town. Thank you to all that helped today.”

“People can be a roll of the dice but I've only ever seen tremendous heart and discernment from Troopers. That's all I know. I'm not gonna fluff it up though. From General Assembly to Capitol to veteran's open house to roadway to protests, troopers have been gentlemen warriors and shown watchful care. When there is intent, those officers anywhere must be removed. Accidents or mistakes are an issue of putting em back through school. Deception or disregard makes an officer unworthy to be a Virginia State Trooper. Every city and county needs an authentic citizen review board of local police logging all incidents of breach of conduct. Adjusting the use of qualified immunity may correct other issues with public trust of law enforcement. I was in a sudden clinch and Trooper had to choose. A false warning was shouted and I could have lost my life over it. The Trooper stared long and hard into the dark and said, We were having a pleasant conversation and then sudden spotlighting and dire warning. You're carrying nothing. Many shared that's how people get killed. A false report with different motives or mistake and it's too late if an officer has poor character or poor judgement. Motives reveal much. I've never had a concern when in the company of VSP. Where do people look for the safety? I always tell kids and adults, go with someone if wished, but go nevertheless when high crimes leave little stall time. Most won't believe that they are in good hands and some handle things themselves, badly. When belief fails and trust fails, most won't reach out again. It costs lives. Test the water. Then choose.”

“I hated this place, but had to live there for five months for my New Agent Training (lots of yelling, lots of bloody knuckles from doing pushups, lots of late nights studying). Most of the people are incredible. The training is incredible. And the day you walk out of there is even more incredible :-) I have long since given up the life of an agent, but fully respect everyone who walks through those doors and fights the good fight, be it FBI Agents or any law enforcement. Thank you everyone who continues to serve. This five stars goes out to you.”

“I was justly stopped by this department yesterday and their officers were extremely polite. It appeared to be a new officer and a FTO. I'd like to meet each again outside of a traffic stop. First four of my tags UTZ, stop occurred near the commercial lane yesterday (5/15). Thank you for your service and keeping everyone safe around RIC!”
