Studying with Lonnie is really boosting my musical ability. He's got a great ear and an emphasis on learning by hearing and feel. We're working on how to make solos for bluegrass and country songs and now I've stepped up to doing bluegrass open jams and to working out solos for my neighborhood jam/cover band. Playing with someone so talented and enthusiastic is a real great opportunity!
After seeing Lonnie play bluegrass around Portland, I contacted him to inquire about guitar lessons for my son. Lonnie is very kind and great with kids. He is very knowledgeable, patient and engaging. Just what I was looking for in a music teacher. I would highly recommend him.
When I was on the search for local mandolin teachers Lonnie came very highly recommended. I enjoyed my first lesson so much that I am looking forward to many more. I am inspired to practice more because I know that it gives him more to work with. Teaching your concepts to another is a tough thing and I am experiencing that Lonnie is up to that task.
Lonnie is a great instructor. He’s patient, supportive, and flexible. As an adult leaner (on Mandolin) I have greatly enjoyed lessons with Lonnie and it’s helped, and continues to help, my playing in all facets.
Lonnie not only teaches, but inspires students. My grandson still plays and practices because of Lonnie's love of music and performing. He has this knack of being able to really be with each student, no matter their skill or interest, and inspire them to want to play. Just terrific!
