(September 18, 2017, 7:48 pm)Imagine the look on their faces when I tell people, "Where I was last Saturday, there were sheriff deputies, fire trucks, K-9 units, ambulances, search & rescue, S.W.A.T and the bomb squad!"
This was my first time at their Annual Open House.
Kids got to climb inside a fire truck, a search & rescue boat, the S.W.A.T. vehicle, etc.
Demos included the K-9 units (it was as much play as work for the dogs), dismantling a car with the "jaws of life", and a house fire with and without a sprinkler system (very sobering).
(I was told that it's usually very busy, but the smoke from the wild fire up the Gorge kept the attendance down this year.)
