I've been prescribed mental health medication for over half of my life, but I never saw or understood the benefit of it. I felt like many previous providers were pushy with pills and wouldn't listen to my concerns. This caused a cycle of going off and on medication or just flat out refusing to take certain medication, because it made me feel...wrong. Dr. Mike has been the first doctor who I felt actually listened to me, and not only did he listen, but he let me be the decision maker as long as I remained transparent and followed through with our plans. I've been with him for a few years and have been consistent with my medicine for the first time ever. What a difference it makes!

My favorite thing about him is that his appointments are scheduled for a full hour and are structured more like a therapy appointment. I've found great value in this, as I feel like he listens and understands my concerns and needs to a much greater capacity than other providers I've had that schedule 10 minute refill appointments leaving no time for discussion.

Kelli (his admin) is also amazing and is a top-notch communicator. She's quick, concise, and cares about his patients just as much as he does.

I cannot understate the positive difference that Dr. Defilippo has made in my life. Finding a provider who is non-judgmental, empathetic, responsive, and committed to providing the best patient care is so important. Dr. DeFilippo is the best! He's a caring compassionate provider who stays on top of the latest research to give the best care possible. He's a great listener and genuinely cares about his clients - I feel lucky I found him!

I moved to seeing Dr. Defilippo after my former care provider retired, and I wish I'd moved sooner. He is down to earth, has always fully listened to me and respected my experience and opinions, and I've been an active participant in care, while also feeling like I'm not the one totally in the driver's seat all by myself (which I have experienced with a gp before). He is knowledgeable about some of the lesser known things I have tried, and very smoothly was able to take over my prescriptions from my former provider, doing a thorough intake but also not just changing everything, which was a huge relief to me. I know I will get good clinical recommendations from him, along with as much detailed information as I want. My appointments with him are regularly almost an hour, which I think is necessary for me, but is incredibly rare to find. I highly recommend Vanguard Psychiatry.

I can't say enough wonderful things about Dr. Defilippo and his incredible staff! They are truly compassionate and excellent at what they do! They are easily accessible, and quick to reply which makes communication so easy. Dr. Defilippo is so easy to talk to and makes you an active part in your care and decisions. I was heard from day one, understood, and helped. Would recommend to everyone.
