Worth traveling there as a destination (which I readily admit I did in order to get miles toward my Alaska Air mileage rewards program). The airport was already a lot of fun, with a fantastic offering of shops, restaurants, services and great hideaways for those traveling alone and wanting respite or even those traveling with kids and wanting a playground. However the N gate renovation has put it over the top. It was so much enjoyable to explore! The architecture, soaring windows and incredible runway views at the airport are worth stopping for a minute during your gate hustle and just looking up and around to experience. They even have rocking chairs at some of their window banks, they know it’s a pretty special design worth taking in. As is the unbelievable amount of artwork they show. Local artists who celebrate the history and culture of the area are featured. Everything from modern to Indigenous art in all forms, nearly around each corner. Their tram system is quick and simple to navigate. There are also several breast feeding areas near those stations and at the gates. The best part of the Seattle airport, in my opinion, is their cutting edge, leading the way, approach to sustainability. The recycling options are many and bins are everywhere. They have thought of several innovative ways to conserve, including piping systems, and it is impressive to learn about. Finally, being a frequent flyer of Alaska Airlines, it doesn’t hurt that they boast several Alaska Lounges (all top notch) conveniently located throughout the airport.
I'd like to put in an extraordinary service to Alaska Airlines at Seattle-Tacoma international airport employee, Alexia. She worked with me and helped me in the assistance desk for an hour! I made the mistake of booking an opposite flight and she made sure every need of mine was met to be able to see my father for the holidays. I appreciate this lady so much and wanted to provide excellent feedback for her so you guys know she is an amazing worker. Bless her and God speed to the other workers working their hardest around this holiday season. Blessings to you all and thank you! A+++
This airport isn't so massive that you have to take buses/monorails from one terminal to another. The parking garage is semi-close to the terminal and gates, so that's good. However, lines can be unexpectedly long. If you find that there's few parking spaces, it's a good indicator that the ticketing and security lines will be massively long.
I arrived here to drop off my child for a flight, and though we arrived 90 minutes early, the ticketing/help line was about 45 minutes long and the security about 30 minutes. The flight was Alaska Air -- not sure why the lines were so dang long. Other times the lines have been minimal or nonexistent. As one would expect, it just depends on the dates you're flying. If you're flying during a holiday, anticipate long lines and arrive 2 hrs early. If flying during a non-holiday and non-busy time, you can arrive 1 hr early and be fine.
Parking is kind of expensive. $5 per hour. I always park in the parking garage and circle up to the roof about 8 floors up. It's easy to park in the parking garage and walk to the terminals (on the 3rd floor). The parking garage ramp corkscrews around like some kind of carnival ride.
Super busy but clean and employee's were helpful
