A beautiful corner to reflect quietly. A fine spot for a picnic with someone special or just take the kids to for a bit of outdoor entertainment. Best part, open to the public year-round and requires no admission.
The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Park along with the restored Boeing B-52G Stratofortress 59-2584 Midnight Express honors all veterans who served the United States of America. The park stands as a Vietnam Memorial but its reality stretches far beyong that. It honors veterans of the past, present, and future. It honors those who served, the family members, partners, and friends who provided their support, the friendships that were formed, and the lasting legacy on our nation. This is a great place for reflection on a quiet morning. (Sadly, the park also sorts directly underneath the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport flight path where there are hundreds of flights flying in and out daily. It can get noisy at times.)
The plane will be joined by a statue depicting a returning aviator, a tribute wall with personalized plaques, and five military branch flags to honor the veterans who served in all military branches between 1955 and 1975.
The great thing is that the park is directly next to The Museum of Flight. You can use their restrooms, buy snacks from their cafe, and park in they parking lot. You must buy a ticket to enter into their exhibit areas.
