Great, looping walk. All shaded, some elevation but not much. Ok for kids who can walk well on gravel, but there will also be dogs and maybe horses too, so plan to carry them sometimes.
Great quiet park. Be prepared though, trails are steep in places and the map at the parking lot is out of date. Mark your tails or map it out as you go or you can get lost.
Spotted this on the map, had never of it or anything about it, but I needed a place for my kids to run off some excess energy.
There were three other vehicles in the (unpaved, medium-sized) parking lot when we got there, but we never saw anyone else the whole time we were there. Just a dog in a neighboring yard barking a greeting ("Take me with you..!").
The lodge building, which was all locked up (this was in early February), looked pretty run down (moss on the roof, peeling paint, general air of decrepitude), which is really the only reason I'm knocking off a star.
The rest of the park is basically just a trail up to the ridgeline (steep at first, then gradually rising), but it's very scenic, wild-feeling and quiet (except when my kids are there). The perfect place for a brief outdoor jaunt.
Beautiful lush pnw trails with great incline. The trail system covers a lot of area and pop out on to urban streets making this park a great way to weave physical activity into you on foot commute to town.
The lodge is a great venue for classes and feature a commercial kitchen and even a number of bunk beds. I was pleased with this well maintained and frequented park reflecting some of the Northwest's natural beauty.
