Got the pasteles. Very good. Take out only? The restaurant part was closed and blocked off, don't know why. The girl who helped me was very friendly.
I tried the Bandeja Paisa that has some missing ingredients compared with the original Colombian recipe but the taste is amazing.
Also the serving size is generous so much so you won’t need the missing ingredients that I told you at the beginning. One more thing is only to take out but definitely I’ll come back.
The food is amazing!! I trieda few of the item on the menu and all of them tasted very good, and good portion. I had a vegetarian ropa vieja with ganule rice and yuca frita, super good. Also bought trio empanada, they tasted good, my kids loved it. Yuca al mojo is a must when I return. My husband and kid had carne frita with mofongo and chicharones with mofongo. And everything tasted soooo gooood! Definitely will return.
TO-GO ONLY! (For now)
The host was so friendly and helpful! She made our experience great even though we expected to dine-in. The wait wasn't too bad either. The parking lot was pretty dark, and we couldn't find the restaurant at first, but parking was easy once we spotted the place. :)
The rellenos de papas were so tasty! The mayo they come with made them perfect- and the crispy potato outside was delicious. The guava juice was delicious and pretty large- so refreshing.
Portions were generous, and the beans and rice were done simply- but great. The plantains/maduros had a wonderful bright flavor and weren't too oily. The chicken was a little dry, and could have used more of the delicious guava BBQ sauce. The lobster mofongo was thoroughly enjoyed by my husband, but the lobster was on the tougher side, although full of flavor.
I will definitely come back and try a pork dish! I have a feeling that once they are fully staffed, it will be a regular favorite of ours. We really enjoyed trying all of the new dishes. As someone who can't eat dairy, I loved having a lot of options.
An acquaintance recommended this gem. This is some of the best Puerto Rican food I've ever had. The ropa Vieja was super tender, flavorful, overall great. The arroz con gandules was fantastic. But the tostones rellenos with chicken blew me away, the chicken had great flavor and the plantain was crispy and hardy. A bit pricey but well worth it. Portions are generous. Highly recommend.
