  Overall, really good food. I had the pulled pork which was excellent. Wife had a chicken dish with pasta that was also nicely put together and was great. Only downside and I hate to do it because the lady was so nice but service is the culprit here. The server forgot to put in my wife's order. She ended up eating her soup while I ate my sandwich, then the pasta came out. Just write down the order or repeat it back and problem solved. Overall though, great little place, check it out.

  Since I am not in the area most days due to work, I have missed the opportunity to eat locally. But due to a day off, my wife and I had lunch at the Anvil Restaurant. When we looked at the menu it had several things that were appealing. But when the waitress told us about the smoked pork barbecue (the smoker was out front), we tried it. Really good.
  
  Intimate and local, not a chain restaurant. I recommend that you try it out. If you want DC sophisticated restaurant, then this is not your place. But since that is not what I want, I think it is great.

  My wife and I have recently visited this little gem. It is a historic building with multiple facts and documents explaining the details. The menu is American fare. Choices are more than sufficient. I had the shrimp, It was amazing and perfectly cooked. The ambience is quiet rustic and romantic. The Chef even came out while we were there. Definitely will be going back soon.
