Had the Gyro and yes it was just like the ones I get in Chicago. The meat is a bit thick but that's the best part. The fries are the thin type which I enjoy the most. The Pizza is thin crust and delicious. The only issue is they use canned mushrooms not fresh cut, but other then that pizza was very good. The steak sandwich was great and cooked to order. Price was fair and you only can pay w cash which isn't a big issue w the great food and service you get. For a business that is in service for 50yrs is well earned and why it has stayed in business so long. Keep up the good work.
Old school wisconsin hunting/fishing fans will love. Been coming here 25 hears. I live in Tn now and came back to Milwaukee for a night and drove to Portage for steak sandwiches on the way back South. Thats 5 extra hours and worth every bite. Great pizza but i needed a steak fix after being without for six years. Cash and check only though so bring it and remember to tip. Five stars as always. As a former Pub owner myself I promise it wont disappoint.
Old school vibe in the BEST way. Excellent personable and real service from a waitress who knows how to do her job well. Great pizza!! I asked for something they hadn't made before and the pizza cook brought it out personally and offered to buy it if I didn't like it. I loved it. This will be our new spot, make it yours too.
I have never lived less than 100 miles from Portage but I have been a regular since the early 80's. The star of the show is the Jumbo Cheeseburger. The meat is ground fresh. The fried onions make it one of the top Cheeseburger's in Wisconsin. Pizza is also some of the areas best. Staff is friendly and efficient.
Yes, it's old, a bit run down ,not handicapped accessible and no credit cards but with food this good who cares.
Shack a rack pizza. This small shack of a place has character and warmth to it. The service was friendly and fast from this local joint. The space is limited with a bar a few tables inside and a few outside. Parking is around it and down to the local park. Great location as it is just in town on the bike path.
The main reason to come is the tasty food and plenty of drink offers. Three draft beers were on offer and plenty of others to choose from.
