“On a bitter cold morning, about -20, we noticed our neighbors garage door was open. This was alarming as they normally keep things buttoned up tight. Before attempting to go out and address it ourselves, we reached out to District 7. The officer on the phone was polite and took the information, indicating they would come out to check things out. A short time later, 2 minutes perhaps, squad 508 appeared in the alley. After looking around they attempted to knock on the door to alert the neighbor. When nobody answered, they returned to the alley and secured the garage. This is consistent with the normal responsive and positive experiences we have always had with district 7. These officers have a tough job and too often are not treated with the respect and gratitude they deserve. My wife and I are truly grateful for the work they do to keep us safe. Some may try to find fault in this message or dismiss this sentiment. We just want to say Thank You. You make our quality of life better. We feel you live up to “To serve and protect”, even when you aren’t shown the gratitude.”
