Old style tavern with eats--baked cod satisfied, great service charmed and convenient location beckoned.
A good example of a typical Wisconsin bar. This place has a very interesting history as it was once a stage stop on the highway between Chicago and Milwaukee. The bar itself dates back to the days before prohibition. Good food and lots of cold beer on tap. Try the "Spotted Cow". Only seems to be found in Southern Wisconsin. Brewed in New Glaruis.
If you want the feel of an old time saloon this is the place. Good food! Great old time atmosphere!
Stopped in and had a great time. The building is very cool. Owner was extremely helpful in explaining the building which is still heated by a firewood boiler. I totally loved the cash register so I snapped it for you. Let me know what you think!
Imagine a bar that is straight out of the 1850s. Old press button tills, phenomenal wood work, excellent selection of beer and liquor, the old iron work and Brass work reminiscent of an old Wild West Saloon, reasonable prices, and a friendly knowledgeable staff to top it all off. A quiet joint readily available for an easy drink. Kind of tucked out of the way, busy, but not busy enough that you are neglected.
