Set in a strip mall with a great Asian store. I have heard about Sze Chuan from some lamb lovers but never had the time to go check it out. Since I was shopping for ingredients, decided to stop by and try the restaurant. Since then have gone back twice.
The restaurant is not fancy and somewhat hectic, but the food is delicous.
I have yet to try the hot pot, but tried the dry pot and they are delicious (chicken and some lamb).
I am a fan of egg drop soup and it was silky as expected.
The portions are hearty and the flavors abudant.
The service is a bit hectic - sometimes you have to ask for things twice, but the intentions are good.
Looking forward to returning.
This is going to be my new go-to Chinese restaurant in the Milwaukee area. Though its a bit far from the downtown, the authenticity of the dishes really shines. The food was absolutely delicious and very filling for a fair price. My favorite dish was the dry chili chicken. I'd love to come back and try out the hot pot.
An absolute diamond in the rough. You wouldn't expect there's a Chinese hot pot, stone pot restaurant in Milwaukee that's this excellent. It's a 11/10 place. Friendly attentive staff. And the food is out of this world. I don't reserve this praise for just any place. Check it out. Try the shrimp with the shell. To die for.
Loved their food the first time trying it and still loved it the second time going. Each dish is packed with flavor and everything comes out super hot so be careful when you take that first bite! Because we wanted to try out everything on the menu that's why you see a table full of food. The portions are pretty big and enough to share so order to your liking. One thing I would ask for is better air circulation/condition as it gets pretty heated up in there. Overall, great food and service.
Note: call ahead to reserve or let them know you have a big group if more than 5 people.
First time trying the Hot Pot at Sze Chuan! All you can eat for $24/per person. We like the spicy 🌶 broth, we got the 1/2 to try both flavors. Go on a weeknight and it is less crowded. You can choose from a full list of meats, sea food, veggies and noodles. We enjoyed the hot spicy broth with hot spicy beef and pork belly and all the veggies and noodles! If only my tummy can hold more food, be sure to be hungry when you order this, it is definitely a giants meal!!
