Dr. Abrams was awesome!! I have tried to do therapy before and it never really worked... He was super inviting and easy to talk to. He helped me work thru my issues with his exposure therapy and it made such a difference in my life. My family was also thoroughly impressed at the progress I have made after seeing him!!!
Dr Abrams was welcoming and personable which helped us to start easily. He took time to listen and understand, and based on that he provided a recommended path, where we used a methodical approach to make progress. He always asked questions to make sure the plan was mutually developed. This all led to great results, meeting the goals we set when planning to work with him. I highly recommend him to anyone considering him for support!
Dr. Abrams earned trust from my son after the very first session. He was able to address specific concerns by working with both our feedback. He's good at giving action items that my son was able to apply to his day to day routine. My son was able to go from not following his daily responsibilities to developing a day to day routine on his own without me having to harp on him. My son is 19 and on the spectrum. It's been a pleasure to watch him come out of his shell and make improvements. My son is comfortable coming to Dr. Abrams anytime he needs to and it's what he needed to help him with young adult life decisions.
Dr. Abrams was a pleasure to work with and knows what he’s doing. Our family was referred to Dr. Abrams to assist one of our children with some issues he was working through. This was after we had one meeting with a different counselor that did not go well.
The first counselor we met with was what every parent fears when trying to get help for their children. It was a two doctor training session for the more inexperienced counselor, which is what we were trying to avoid. It was the kind of experience that leaves a bad taste in everyone’s mouth and makes it more difficult to continue to seek assistance.
Fortunately we were told about Dr. Abrams and it was exactly what we were looking for and needed. He’s great with kids and parents. He provided valuable resources to assist with the issues we were working through. The exercises were relevant and effective. Everything he did assisted us in getting to a much better place. He provided the tools we needed to move forward.
If you have had bad experiences in the past or are worried about about finding a qualified doctor, look no further. Dr. Abrams will be exactly what you are looking for and will not disappoint.
My son has been working with Dr. Abrams for the past 15 months. We have come so far from where we started. Dr. Abrams doesn't seek to label kids and recognizes that each child has a unique story that has contributed to who they are as individuals. His desire to help our son recognize his own feelings and triggers has helped him to be able to start managing them, really feeling them for what they are, and dealing with them in a more controlled manner. My husband and I, as parents, have really benefited from suggestions he's given us on how to better react to (and often prevent) issues as they arise. We've gained invaluable insight in how to see things from our son's perspective and how to react so that he feels heard and safe, but guided. Our entire family, including our other three children, is better for it. We are parenting better on a consistent basis for having worked with Dr. Abrams. Dr. Abrams' suggestions are down to earth and easy to implement. He is always open to hearing that something didn't work for our family and moving on to another option. He shares our struggles and triumphs with our successes. I would heartily recommend his style of therapy to any parent whose child is struggling. We have gone from feeling hopeless to being amazed at how far we've come - and that is priceless.
