(October 25, 2018, 8:49 pm)Ok, so some of the architecture is super creepy but great history and tour. Bought some cute educational items in the gift shop. The observatory itself is large and has that antique feel. You could just feel the history all around you.

(September 26, 2018, 3:16 pm)Awesome piece of history which I truly hope gets preserved. Richard Dreiser was such a knowledgeable tour guide. Glad we were able to take a tour before University if Chicago parts ways with this masterpiece.

(September 26, 2018, 10:52 am)A great place for the history of astronomy. The observatory was built in the late 1800s and contains the largest refracting telescope (40") in the world. Best to go on a Saturday when they demonstrate the elevator that lifts the entire floor under the telescope and they open the doors facing the sky. But after October 2018 U of Chicago is discontinuing its connection to the site. What happens then is still to be decided.

Thank you all for a wonderful tour. We will happily add our voices to the effort to preserve the observatory. Long live Yerkes!
