Small but nice state park with some interesting history. I would definitely reccomend stopping at the pavilion area to read the informational signs before walking around as there are not any info signs on the trails themselves.
Newest Wisconsin state park is a little gem. Really liked walking in and among the mounds. I wish I had stopped at the gazebo first so I could review the shapes and then see them. Fun one, can't wait to see how the stat upgrades it.
History and culture are always neat. It's great that places like this have been saved and preserved for us and future generations.
There are a handful of info signs at the beginning of the trail (which is a short walk from the parking lot).
I feel like the trail could benefit from info signs at a few if the larger mounds.
What would be really cool is a raised platform that would allow an elevated view of the park's namesake mound.
All in all, a really nice place to stop. The trail doesn't take long, so make sure to plan another stop or two if you're coming from a ways off.
Striking and solemn group of Indian mounds. Mostly well-preserved, in a well designed park. Visit the gazebo first upon arrival, they have nice overview and interpretive exhibits that will help your appreciation of these 1,000+ year-old burials and sculptures.
This was a beautiful walk through nature, and a wonderful history lesson. As kids we saw several mounds across the midwest. These were great examples of ancient Native American culture! Thank you for preserving this so well!
