it's such a good walk and it's beautiful
The trails are a perfect mix of well defined and wild. In many parts they are only wide enough for single file with the foliage creeping onto the trail.
The hike to Rainbow Lake was nice and relaxing and the Esker trail gives a nice view of the lower portions of the conservancy.
It can get a bit buggy with all the water around, so be sure to use plenty of mosquito spray.
Will definitely be coming back to explore more of the trails.
What a wonderful place to visit. We found it by just driving by and decided to stop. So glad we did. Breathe taking. Seen so many different types of birds.
When I explored Lac Lawran, I had a blast! It was mid-March, so it was extremely wet and muddy. I would visit here again in mid to late Summer, especially for the oak prairie they have. It will hold plenty of wildlife and I guess mostly birds! There are a few trails within the main forest surrounding the pond. Plenty of deer tracks, so that is promising for larger wildlife. The pond is beautiful as well! There is an evergreen grove with a neat trail as well that leads to a birch/poplar grove overlook.
Came up from Milwaukee looking for hiking. I was not disappointed. Unexpectedly rich. Really wonderful. Big enough to have a leisurely couple of hours in. Although the visitor center was closed I was very happy to find very clean bathrooms accessible from the outside along with a drinking fountain that was still open in early October.
