“We want to share this hidden spot in Wylie...the Wylie Rec Center!! The workout facility in the Rec Center is awesome!! They have free weights, machines, and all kinds of options for cardio-including an indoor track. They also have a rock climbing wall that is available to kids and adults!! My kids LOVE coming to the childcare area-that is FREE with your annual membership!! The yearly cost for an individual membership is $175 for Wylie residents and $225 for an individual outside of Wylie. The staff is awesome, sweet to my kids, and they keep the whole place very clean!! It’s located just off 544 and Country Club...check it out!!!”

Fawn River Nature Preserve - ACRES Land Trust

Address: 10100 E 800 N, Orland, IN 46776, USA

Park

“The best hiking trail near Orland. Easy access to the parking lot. Nice wide trail for most of the route. A shady clearing near the river is perfect for picnics (bring a blanket to spread out). Most of the route is in cool shade. About halfway along is a juncture to a loop that goes along the river for a hundred yards or so. The whole route took us about 35 minutes.”

Stanley Tree And Landscaping Stump Grinding Services

Address: 6 Walnut Dr, Cartersville, GA 30120, USA

Park

“I’m still amazed at the service and attention we received from Doug and his team. We have asked for references from our community and Stanley Tree Service was one highly recommended. I called and left a message on a Saturday, Doug called me back within an hour and asked if he could come by within the hour. YES! He gave us a very competitive price. When compared to other companies we had received references on, his price was just one of the factors…TIMEFRAME and equipment were most important. He was able to fit us in within a week and the job was done and cleaned up as though the landscapers had finished it off. They blew leaves, dirt and debris and carted it all away.”

Paseo Vista Park

Address: 2505 Paseo Verde Pkwy, Henderson, NV 89052, USA

Park

“This is one of my absolute favorite parks. There's lots of different areas here alone. There is 2 separate playgrounds: 1 for older kids, 1 for younger kids but both are a really good size, a splash pad, a chess area and I believe it is a cornhole area (maybe?) Also has tons of seating with shading from the trees and a grass area for the dogs in the family or a mid size party. Everytime I've come I've seen a lot of kids for my kids to make friends with. One of the best parks I've been to honestly 10 / 10”

A few stream crossings that will not get your feet wet. .5 miles away when you make left from the parking lot is a small store and a few driving feet from that is the visitors center. Plenty of parking. Bring your Adventure Pass or National Park pass to display on your dashboard. No restroom at parking lot. Enjoy!”

Birkhead Mountains Wilderness

Address: Asheboro, NC 27205, USA

Park

“It was a fairly subtle accent, but everything feels a little more strenuous in July heat/humidity. We only did about 10 miles out and back and didn't finish hiking the trail. There wasn't a readable map as the posted ones case is so weathered and there were no paper maps, but I'm sure there were plenty more trail miles to hike. They have a number of stone campfire sites, that don't look like they have been used recently. I'm definitely interested in checking out more of the Uwharrie national forest has to offer, but to be completely honest this location had me a little uneasy. First there was a number of discarded food items in the homestead, enough to suggest that perhaps someone was squatting there. Then there were several freshly and unnecessary chopped down young trees that were cut and left in the way of the trail. Lastly on the way out we took a different path that goes over a small creek near the trail exit and there were clear fresh footprints in the mud. There really isn't much chance we wouldn't have run into whomever it was on the trail. It really only splits near the top campsites. I expected to see another vehicle when we got to the parking lot, but nope. It may have been nothing or maybe someone is squatting there which isn't in itself a reason for concern, but either way something felt off. I definitely wouldn't go hiking alone there and without some precaution.”

Jaycee Park

“We had so much fun playing in the splashpad and running around the playground! When you have a little and short on cash, a park with a splashpad when it's hot outside is a GODSEND. The only downside is that there are no bathrooms.”

Chain O’ Lakes State Park

Address: 2355 E 75 S, Albion, IN 46701, USA

Park

“A great place to visit to get away! We came for a weekday getaway in a cabin, and it was fabulous. Cabin 18 was well secluded with only one cabin nearby (about 75 yards away). It was a 2 minute walk to a nice little playground, perfect for our 4.5 year old! Beautiful hikes, a neat little school house to visit (lots of programs if you go on the weekend!). Our stay was quite due to the time of year and being the weekday. We didn't try any water features (other than beautiful views during the hikes! But they have a beach, canoeing and kayaking, and great set up foe fishing, either by boat (easy access boat ramps) or piers. Lots of little places to host a family gathering. Would highly recommend!”

E. C. Million Memorial Park

Live bands on stage and cool sand art in the center of the field... Definitely a must visit for the whole family...”

Sensory Garden Playground

Address: 2751 Navistar Dr, Lisle, IL 60532, USA

Park

“The best playground in the area and beyond. It's 30min ride from us but it's definitely worth visiting. A lot of different areas offering various plays. The place is great for all ages. A lot of shaded picnic areas and benches. The tree house slides are great to wear off some energy 😅 because it is a walk to go up on the slide again. The swing ride is fantastic and I've never seen it anywhere else. The surrounding trail is also great. There are several stops and stations along the way to stretch different parts of your body. It's an awesome area to spend the day overall”

The Arrowhead Tipi Resort

There is a shared center for all 5 tipi's that offer picnicking, grilling, family fun games, a fire pit and even complimentary smore kits! Absolutely the best quick get-a-way in a long time.
