“I am not a member and wanted to partake in Yitzkor service. My 104 year old Grandmother passed away just a couple days ago and felt a need to say Kaddish today, on Yom Kippur! So many congregants said hello to me and shook my hand as I walked towards the temple and as I sat in the Sanctuary. Rabbi Pillsbury was kind to add my grandmother 's name in the Memorial reading. Very warm, heartfelt praises to this temple as they have shown me today. Todah Rabah!”

“The Anshai Lebowitz congregation began more than 110 years ago when immigrants from the town of Lubowich Russia attempted to create a synagogue. Originally the services were held in local home and eventually it was moved to a dedicated site. The congregation has been at this location since 1967. The congregation is Orthodox...and yet, a bit of liberal thinking has been introduced. For example, there are three seating options - men only, women only or mixed. All of that aside, what is most unusual is the service and the people. The services are held in a very small area; a microphone is not required. When the rabbi speaks, it seems more like a conversation than a service - literally, no matter where you are seated, he is within feet of you. It is at first uncomfortable (if you begin to doze off, you won’t be hidden by dozens of people sitting in front of you) but eventually you become more impressed and it seems more meaningful. I am not Orthodox and yet no one made me feel uncomfortable or unwelcome. There is sufficient parking (but I would not drive there on the Sabbath). The building is handicap accessible.”
