Café Américain

A wonderful dinner experience in an exquisite establishment in the heart of Amsterdam. Goat cheese quiche as starter to share, a steak tartare and a steak with mushroom sauce and potato pure along with a glass of red wine comprised our dinner menu during our last day in the city. Highly recommended. Reservation is a must.

My 5 stars are based on the following: good food, quick service, friendly staff and attention to detail. Lovely space inside, very nice decoration. This is Amsterdam so it won’t be super cheap.
The previous day I had visited another café in Amsterdam to have exactly the same thing for brunch and I can compare both, the Hard Rock was cheaper and overall better.

I've been coming here for 30+ years, to now learn that it currently belongs to Hard Rock. To tell the truth, I hardly noticed the difference: the service is still as good as it gets in Amsterdam, food and drinks are decent and prices are reasonable. Here's where I come for a meal when sick and tired of being asked elsewhere, "Do you have a reservation?".
