We have all heard that the Romans had lovely mosaics and heated there houses in clever ways but it is something special to see the remains in the flesh. And it is nicely displayed and looked after by English Heritage. You won't need hours there but you can walk nearby in ancient woods and enjoy a bite in the cafe too.
Awesome Roman villa. Amazing for kids with a lot of interesting information that they can understand or play with it (from animal marks over the clay to the roman dress you are fell to try, to the introductory video). The place is quite small but very recommended for 1 hour or so of historical fun indoor.
Some well preserved mosaics are visible in this ancient villa. The signs seem mostly aimed at nine or ten year old children. The activities aren't particularly engaging for children much younger than that unlike similar museums I have been to recently.
They have a video about the site that plays every half an hour. The video itself is interesting but whilst playing the lights dim everywhere else making it difficult to see anything else once you have seen it the first time.
Overall it's not a bad Roman villa but it's quite pricy for what's there.
A fantastic way to see a Roman villa. We found the video informative and helped us understand the layout. We never knew the significance of the villa and it's early ties to Christianity. Great place to spend an hour or so. The mosaics are amazing to see
Fantastic place to visit, not to badly priced. The information given by the staff is second to none, they are very knowledgeable. All weather attraction, only problem is the road down to it is very narrow, so drive carefully!
