(November 26, 2018, 7:18 am)Having turned up for Sunday lunch without booking, the staff found a way to squeeze us in... and thank goodness. One of the finest roast dinners I've ever had, in a lovely setting, with excellent service. Highly recommended.

We (five of us) had the autumn tasting menu with wine pairings. A very flavourful and perfectly paced nine course meal was presented to us. All five of us enjoyed every course. It wasn't 100% perfect. My beef was slightly over done, but the other diner with me said his beef was fine. Don't misunderstand me, the flavours and presentation of the beef dish were still very good, just mine was cooked a bit past where it should have been. And, the only other criticism was that two of the desert servings were a bit two much alike. Both very tasty though so it's only a tiny criticism.
The service was fantastic. Attentive. Friendly. Any small conversations we had with the staff were always delightful or amusing. They managed to keep the feel of the place perfectly balanced between a fine dining establishment and a yet still a pub. And, as I said perfect pacing to the food and wine. Top notch.
