“Amazing little place. Can't believe how many meaningful objects and stories they managed to elegantly fit in there. Most of it local units related that were deployed worldwide and took part in many historical events. Definitely one of my favorite war museums with its own distinct personality. Cheap entry and cool stuff in the souvenir shop as well”

“Wow! We had an amazing visit in February 2022, the staff are so very lovely. Joe was our guide down the mines, and he was amazing! He was great with our 11 year old and answered all questions with such knowledge and experience. We would recommend visiting, it was a great day out for our little family! Amazingly low prices and the cafe is lovely too... There are ponies too, which made my day! Have fun!!”

“I was stunned. The museum is beautiful outside and inside. Great collections (with Dali's Christ on the Cross on display) and lots to see and experience. It's completely free, so make sure to go! On Sunday there is an organ recital around noon, which was also cool to see and hear.”

“A little gem just north of London. I have lived in Colindale for over 13 years and I never knew this museum was here. It's in a gated community with a concierge who opens the gate when you pull up and inform him you'd like to visit the museum. Sited in some beautiful grounds which is mostly private, but they have an Italian garden you can walk around accessed through the cafe. It's a small but incredibly informative museum. The best part for me was their 10 minute film. A mesh like screen with a room behind makes an innovative use of telling the story. I was in awe and have never seen anything like it before. The house itself has an amazing history but it comes in to it's own by explaining how it played its role in the Battle of Britain and the foresightful people who coordinated it. I cannot recommend the museum enough for children and adults. I'm certainly going to be making more than one return visit. There's also a reasonably priced admission charge. A small price to play to preserve amazing history”

“Wonderful windmill with much of its original equipment intact. It was built in 1816, and is one of three windmills which stood in the area. When open, it is staffed by enthusiastic volunteers who explain in detail its workings. It is a tower mill with a fantail, which moves round the top, so the sails always face the wind. It was equipped with a steam engine, which was used to drive the milling equipment on windless days. It is well worth a visit. There is limited parking available on Mill Lane.”

“Fascinating place to visit and, for a small museum, there is plenty to see. The floor plan of the baths is pretty complete so it's easy to see how the baths were used and heated. Really interesting info boards and artefacts to see as well. Would definitely recommend a visit.”
