(February 15, 2018, 3:15 pm)St John Cassian is a small, friendly, and welcoming Orthodox chapel in a part of the country that sadly doesnt have very many Orthodox parishes. This chapel is a wonderful place run by great people and I hope to see many more missions like it pop up in the future!

(February 15, 2018, 2:46 pm)St John Cassian Orthodox Chapel is a metochion (подворье) of the Monastery of the Glorious Ascension (Resaca, GA). The members began meeting for reader services in October of 2014, with the blessing of the monastery's abbot, Archimandrite Maximos (Weimar). The mission was officially established in May 2015 by decree of Metropolitan Hilarion (Kapral), First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad. It is a vibrant and growing mission to the "over-the-mountain" parts of the Birmingham metropolitan area. The mission currently meets in the studio space over the garage in the home of one of the founding families--but this isn't "living room liturgies." They have transformed the space into a nice, Orthodox worship space, which is separate from the main house (see pictures for more).
