“Great principal! Good working relationship with the principal, A P, and teachers. I believe in being part of the solution and not part of the problem. I volunteer when I get a chance. I stress to my child the importance of being part of the solution at school and not part of the problem bc it will help make her school a better learning environment. There has been some very positive, much needed, life altering changes for everyone over the past three years. These changes made my two children and me very proud to purple and gold tigers. They currently not on the failing school list and working hard with teachers, students, and parents to keep it that way. #GoOssieWareTigers! 🐯”

“After teaching here for three years, let me say the staff are fantastic. The school boasts better than average test results all around, and they have a good grasp on student discipline. It may be a large school (more than 800 students, at last count) but they still have a very nice tight-nit community feel. This school serves Jefferson County students in grades 3-5.”

“Knowledgeable, friendly, and great products. I have to admit that we initially went to the big orange store nearby....but with only one person working in the paint dept. (and not appearing to have real expertise) and several customers waiting for help, we went across the street. Although the price point might be a few dollars more per gallon for comparable products, the difference is well worth it considering the customer service.”

“I went to Mt. Olive Elementary School from First through Sixth grades, 1955-1960. At that time all classes were in the one, main building which from the satellite pic seems to have gone FOOP, and disappeared. There was a frame Janitor's House, free-standing, just WNW of the main building. This was converted into a one-room,two-grades (4th & 5th) classroom when I was in 3rd grade,I believe, and I took my 5th grade classes in it. At that time,or thereabouts, Alabama's schools were ranked 47th out of the 48 states in existence then. ( Alaska & Hawaii were still Territories then.) In spite of that, we were blessed with teachers who gave a damn about more important matters than their pay scales and benefits packages. Namely, the students (called pupils then,at that stage of learning), and the quality of the educations thereof. Discipline was far stricter, more just, more rapidly dispensed, and often of the corporal variety. I disliked it then, no surprises there, huh? But it was more effective and,in at least my own case, got backed up at home. In our current times, we throw heaps of money at what never should've been allowed to become problematic. And continues to worsen instead of improving. So I am grateful for every single little thing I was taught there at Mt. Olive Elementary School ! The memories of my time there are very, very fond. Some of them are cherished dearly. If it's half now what it was then, Mt. Olive is one awesome school !”

“Brett is one of the best percussionist I've ever met. He offers an experience that is second to none. He can expand ones ability to levels they never thought possible. There's no one I trust more to teach me or my children about music. If you're a beginner or a seasoned musician he's your man.”

“They mean business; they are out for success; they are driving principles into our children. It makes my children and even me uncomfortable. Still, what makes one uncomfortable is the force you need to drive you to success. Oh, yeah..., and I loved their celebration of Black Excellence.”
