Wonderful museum and well laid out so you don't miss anything. Dont miss if you want to learn the history of Alabama. Although I must admit that the history of our native Indians and the slaves always makes me ashamed to be a white U.S. resident.
A lot to see and very informative. The museum gift shop has lots of cute stuff with good prices. Staff are all kind and friendly. We had a great time here
Beautiful exhibits, paintings and history leasons. Free entry. A great way to spend several hours, easily. Tons to read, plenty to watch and awesome artifacts. My favorite was the natural beauty section describing Alabama's diverse geology and water sheds. Equally immersive was the Voices exhibit explaining the history of the state from Native Americans, to exspansion, slavery, segregation, the space race and modern day. Thoroughly enjoyed this gem. 🙂
We did not know what to expect when we decided to go here but ended up being extremely impressed. 3 stories with the bulk of the exhibits on the second floor, to include a hands on children's room, geology room, historical war room with a lot of weapons and uniforms. Then Several areas in order tracing the history of Alabama from a few hundred years ago to present day. Exhibits in these areas were outstanding. Plan on being here for a few hours.
This museum is very well laid out and covers many different aspects of Alabama history. I could have stayed even longer than I did to take in everything. Great kids section as well.
