The Hope Community Library resides in the old school house, where the teacher lived upstairs. Well kept and well stocked library with a nice kids area and a playground outside. Nextdoor is the Library Gift Shop, used book sale and Grounds for Hope Espresso. Neat items available in the gift shop - even the teenagers found cool stuff they wanted 😎 many thanks to the volunteers who staff the library and gift shop, we enjoyed our visit and appreciate what you do!
The town of Hope is a fantastic day trip from Anchorage or the Kenai Peninsula. Located along the water, the town in quaint and chocked full of history. While there are several shops and eateries for visitors to enjoy, much is closed in the winter. The library, however, is open and welcomes guests. My time there was extremely enjoyable. Run by volunteers the space has a varied selection of books, periodicals and DVD’s. Locals venture there to enjoy each other’s company. Everyone knows everyone’s name and all are effusively friendly to newcomers as well. The associated gift shop doesn’t have winter hours but if you want to take a look (and I suggest you do), the folks running the library might be able to let you in. The artwork on display is beautiful and eclectic and features several local artists. There is quite a lot to look at with gifts and items sure to please everyone.
