Most fantastic... Great hiking to get there.. Interesting place to stop and take in the rock, the hike, and the views..
I did a group night hike here. It was quite the workout, but the views were beautiful as we were hiking downhill in the Hidden Valley area. There were unobstructed views of the night sky and the dimly lit desert landscape (there was a full moon that day).
However, you do have to watch your step as there are a lot of rocks. The funnest/sketchiest part was where you have to slide down a smooth boulder. (Don't know if we were off trail or how we chanced upon it) I was scared, but a fellow member in the group was down there to catch me. Kind of like a "trust slide."
Pretty good area to explore.
Really gorgeous once you get back in there. The huge boulder scrambles are challenging and a mental workout as well. Trail winds through a sandy wash with large slabs of dark granite on either side. Definitely a hidden gem on South Mountain.
Great hike. Been taking my family here for 15 years. I love it
It was great longer than I had planned. Started at Mormon and then National took me to Fatman (I think that's the name) then to Hidden valley. Hiked over 6 miles!
