I purchased a Redstone RS-3626 to install into an existing gas fireplace in my home. I had researched many other brands but kept coming back to this model. I did the install myself but spoke with a couple local fireplace companies and they all recommended this brand. They all gave it a high rating. The prep of the space took much longer than the actual install did. The only thing I did not understand was that the larger trim kits that can be purchased separately are really not meant to be cut to fit. I thought I could cut it to fit the setback of the brick facade. At least I did not have that skill. This unit need to be installed onto a finished surface for best results. I ended up trimming with wood and painting it black before the very easy install. I used the provided trim kit.
I thought I would just keep the natural fire look but there are so many color combinations, I change it almost every day to "set the mood" for the day. I like the wild color combos.
Did my research and chose the Modern Flames Orion 52" multi view for my bedroom. Ordered it from the closest dealer to me, Chadds Ford Fireside Shop in Pennsylvania. Fireplace arrived, I brought it home and opened it up to figure out my install. Found a small scratch on the front glass. I also had a question on the installation. Called the customer support and spoke with Anthony. Anthony asked me to send some pics on the scratch and my installation question. Anthony got back to me the same day with a claim form and answer to my question...Wow, unbelievable! The next day a new glass was sent out and in two days I had a new one. Anthony and his team are top notch, a pleasure to talk to and finally a company with good old fashioned Customer Service!
The fireplace is installed (not completed yet) but I ran it through it's paces and am totally impressed....I love it! I had a wonderful experience with this company, I would definitely recommend this company to others, the product is great and the customer service is the same!
The Modern Flames electric fireplace we have in our Arizona home is just perfect! Most of the time we use it without the heat element, but we do have a few months where our electric fireplace cuts the chill out in the room. It's such a great alternative to our old wood burning fireplace which we couldn't use often because of "No Burn Days." We love it!
Beautiful, functional, but not great
The fireplace is beautiful and functional. The box was missing the screws required to attach the outer-most plate to the unit. Now, the fireplace rattles whenever the fan is blowing. The remote control is difficult to pair. We've had the fireplace for over a month and still cannot pair it to the fireplace. I don't know why Modern Flames doesn't ship already paired remotes. Can you imagine if TV's came with remotes that had to be paired?
Finally, the touch plate for the power, dimmer, and heat controls is not very sensitive. You sort of have to bang your finger against it a few times to get it to register (imagine a bad touch screen phone). Of course, when it finally does register your touch, you've gone too far and have to cycle back through the options. Thankfully, we don't have to adjust the settings very often or this would be more of an issue.
