I've been on several trail rides and Cedar Crest Stables is the best! The horses were well trained, Donald (owner) is great, and the beauty on the trail is amazing. Donald helped calm the nerves of my two children (8 & 10) and to make it one of our top experiences while visiting New Mexico. I would highly recommend.

My husband and I came to NM on our anniversary road trip. We found Cedar Crest Stables online and were impressed by the reviews, website and excited to see Cibola National Forest on horseback. Don was able to get us on a trail ride with another group the same day. He was a great instructor, full of details about the area and had the best cowboy dad jokes. The horses seemed healthy, well taken care of and were very sure footed on the rocky trails. The scenery was really beautiful too.

This is a superb and authentic way to experience the Cibola national forest and the landscape in this region of New Mexico.

I emailed Don then figured I should call since I assumed he gets booked fast. He thanked me for calling and as I found out on our ride, he will answer his cell phone while out on the trail to at least tell you he'll call you back. He does not check and respond to emails while out on trails. Best to call if you want information or to schedule.

Well worth the trip and the price, absolutely. The horses are amazing and Don is helpful, friendly, and inclusive regardless of your experience and/or comfort level with horses.

We did the 2-hour option; he stated over the phone that the 3 and 4 hour options are not available during the winter due to the conditions on the trails.

If I am ever back in this area again, I will definitely be calling up Cedar Crest to book another trail ride.

My granddaughter and I went in September and it was great!! Our guide I forget his name but he was amazing and patient and kept talking to us all the way. He really knew how to give us peace and it was so beautiful.
