Matthias Lafayette/Orinda/Moraga Drum Lessons

Best drum teacher my son ever had. My son has been learning drum with Matt since we moved here in 2019. He is very kind and patient with my son but at the same time he sets clear goals for him and motivates him to learn new songs. We could clearly see the significant improvement from my son first started to learn from him until now. I highly recommend, we feel fortunate to have Matt as my son’s drum teacher. YOU ROCK!!!

Matthias is one heck of an instructor, teacher and example of what a pro drummer is. He was able to get my son to play along to some of my favorite RUSH tunes and other music, from differrnt genres, Matthias helped him create a good foundation outside of music that helped him in other aspects of his life. Matthias rocks!!!

Our now teenage son expressed an interest in moving from piano to drums several years ago. A friend whose son was learning with Matthias strongly recommended him. It's been about five years of weekly lessons now. Our son loves learning with Matthias. He's grown so much as a musician, gaining technical know-how, and confidence. Matthias' studio space is top notch. His enthusiasm for teaching is more than evident. His sense of humor on and off the stage is always appreciated. Most of all, his ability to infuse a child with skill is one thing, but he also managed to instill a work ethic to push our son to amazing heights. Our son seems to be going places now, playing in several advanced bands every week and looking at music as a career. Needless to say, we highly recommend him!

Matthias is an amazing drum instructor. My shy and sensitive child has been taking lessons with Matthias for several months now. Matthias is always kind, empathetic, encouraging, as well as great at giving clear instruction.

It’s been wonderful to see my quiet child respond positively to Matthias’ positive instruction. Seriously can’t go wrong with Matthias as a drum instructor.

Matthias is the real deal! He's a professional drummer and recording artist who has played with many well known musicians. He has been an inspiration to my son who has taken drum lessons with him for 5 years (and will continue as long as he has access to a drum set). He has helped prepare him for his High School Jazz band and has taught him the skills needed to become a confident and talented drummer. He is patient and kind and has made a huge contribution to our child's life.
