Rolling through Bakersfield from out of state and my stomach started vocalizing that I wasn’t going to make it to my destination.
I somehow lucked out enough to find Cope’s place after hearing it was a well known country style cafe, a seemingly favorite amongst locals. I called in a large order of biscuits and gravy and it was an absolute mistake. I should have looked the pictures because their biscuits are massive. They’re absolutely delicious with large chunks of bacon and sausage. I was barely able to finish the single biscuit. Though I am not going to complain about plenty of leftovers.
Absolutely packed when I arrived, yet my order only took less than 5 mins when I arrived and they’re extremely attentive inside. Couldn’t have picked a better place and I know I’ll be stopping by when in town.
Excellent choice for breakfast or lunch. Knotty Pine is on the list of top five places in Bakersfield to eat breakfast.
I ordered the hamburger steak patty( with salsa), eggs and biscuits and gravy. It was outstanding, the patty is almost one pound... Huge.
My son ordered a waffle with scrambled eggs and sausage patty, he said it was the best!
If you have never been here you’re missing out.
We asked to be seated in quiet area because MIL is hard of hearing. It wasn't busy on Monday 1245pm. We were seated in new addition, and it was quiet. The Reuben and pastrami sandwiches were outstanding. My potato salad was underwhelming. Side salad generous and fresh. Onion rings were good. Tab for 3 sandwiches with a side, and one ice tea was $45. Admittedly, the sandwiches were outstanding, but I don't know if I would return. Pricey. No one wore masks for inside seating...not even the staff. That surprised me, as Kern is in the red tier. Because 93 year old MIL loves the place, and less than 3 miles from her home, we will occasionally treat her here for breakfast or lunch. Decor is clean, cozy knotty pine.
The Knotty Pine is known throughout Bakersfield as one of the best old country farmhouse-style restaurants in the central valley. They have great menu choices. From their amazing biscuits and gravy to their chicken fried steaks, there is something for everyone.
The building is antique and quaint. An expanded farmhouse, which is to be expected. Breakfast & Lunch times are usually very busy, with lines of people waiting even outdoors. But, the wait is not usually extremely long.
If you're staying in Bakersfield from out of town, The Knotty Pine is a must-try.
So happy we were able to eat indoors again! Love the breakfast, super filling food. Best biscuits and gravy in town! My husband loves the Chile Verde Omelet! Coffee is always hot, and service is friendly and family oriented. They really know their customers and care about you. We love coming here again and again. Thanks for always providing great food!
