Nice state park and I saw 7 of the 13 Elk up close! The others I spotted with my binoculars.
First time to see Tule elk. We were staying at a nearby hotel on Hwy 5. It was so worth the 10 minute drive. Thanks to the ranger, who directed us to where we could see an elk. We used binoculars for details. Highly recommend this experience.
Beautiful and just off the 5. Saw three bulls just hanging out. They close at sunset, but we saw some right off the road through the fence.
Middle of the day on a Tuesday and there is no one here. 90 degrees out in October and I don’t see any elk. Grass is overgrown in front of the raised viewing area, so no view. Tried walking along the fence to see if I could spot any wildlife but, unless you like flying inspects, I wouldn’t recommend that. Bathrooms and picnic areas are abundant, surprisingly clean and stocked with TP, soap, trash cans, etc . Wish there was more to explore, but leaving this 4 stars cause of the amenities are surprisingly clean and modern for how desolate this place is.
I've discovered where xylophones came from!
