Fantastic! Truly a southern California gem.
Screaming and yell over a $2 bet . ... more fun than a barrel of monkeys or Disneyland; your choice cheaper either way
Great Track, exciting throughbred racing & wagering, fantastic brunch!
Absolutely love this place. Whether you drive or take public transport it is an easily accessible place to get to. The views are beautiful and for a few bucks you can enjoy some beautiful horses race and possibly win some cash.
You can park on the Huntington Drive side or on Saturdays and Sundays you can go thru gate 6 and park and enter for free as long as you stay on the inside park section. This section also is great for young kids as they run around and play on the swings and bars while you have a refreshment and watch the races or just enjoy the outdoors.
I have lived in Arcadia by the Racetrack for over 30 years and have watched it change. Whether or not the horses are racing, this is something to see. Built in 1937, it remains a beautiful place to visit.
I love the history. Before the gigantic Mall was built on Racetrack parking area the racehorses were kept in stables here. After the Mall, stables still remained but not as many and racehorses have to be trailered in. Still you can see many who are in the stables during race time. This is a beautiful coliseum, you can park for free and walk up close to see the track and stadium. Just last week I drove in to look around and take pictures like this one. Plenty of hotels, motels and cottages to rent during racing season all around the park.
This is also where I learned to drive along with many other Arcadia teens....before the mall. But parking is still plentiful.
In 1984 the Summer Olympics were held in Los Angeles and the equestrian events were held at this park.
