This place rocks. Staff is professional 99% of the time and the place is always on point. Food is good, policies are normal and fairly loose, tbh.
Staff is incredible. The entire area of VALLEY OASIS/VOA territory is patrolled by LASD. The dorms are filled with beds with people who are enduring the Winter without a home. Only 90 days with a case manager here who is supportive and determined to rapidly re-house each participant. The policy is strictly enforced which mainly require no drugs, no fighting & no theft just to name a few- curfew at 10pm- lights on at 6am. There's no pressure to do anything. It's very important to meet with your case manager weekly. There are showers three times a day, clean clothing available, free washers and dryers available every day throughout the week. Breakfast, lunch & dinner provided. Smoking is allowed in the designated area. A huge recreational area to spend time socializing with the new people going through the same hardship of homelessness. Best of all, there's coffee and your able to ask for seconds.
Also, there is a vending machine in case you want to buy snacks. There is only one bus line that runs nearby from Quartz Hill to Owen Memorial Park throughout the day. Bus stop is in walking distance to ride the AVTA #9 BUS.
ITS NOT the RITZ however it's clean, safe and patrolled. Good enough for me.
Volunteers of America of Los Angeles of the High Desert Macc Crisis Shelter Rescued me from my distress and troubles when I had nowhere to go; they greeted me with blessings, offered encouragement, hope, love and believed in me, even though I was a stranger to them. In addition, they fed me, clothed me, provided a comfortable bed in a comfortable room with wonderful, amazing roomates. They go above and beyond in every way possible; I cannot express my gratitude for the innumerable blessings they showered on me, even though I am undeserving. I pray they are blessed in return and hope that some day I can return the love, peace, and favor that they selflessly provide to the poor, needy, hurt, and homeless. Thank you, all!
